Gift Guide for Travelers

This year we've organized our gift guide by travel personality - techie, outdoorsy, jetsetter, fashionista - and we've got a dozen travelers covered. Check out these unique gift ideas across a range of price points, all available online and in time for the holidays.

Techie Brother - Grid It ($20)
This seemingly simple mass of elastic bands is on every techie's wish list this year...even Zooey Deschanel's list. Grid It holds everything from iPods to extra camera batteries to USB cables and everything in between. It's simple, available in classic colors (black, red, grey) and various sizes and does it's job well.
Game-loving Couple - Travel Scrabble ($49)
Whether friends or family, there is always someone you know who won't just let you sit around and drink wine all night, they make you do something - a walk, cards, board game, movie. And truth be told, it's usually more fun. Give them a game they can take with them when they leave home - Travel Scrabble. It's just too addictive to leave behind and this set is magnetic so you won't lose your pieces.

Incredibly Organized Business Traveler - The Laundress New York Travel Pack ($48)
I have a friend who has a suitcase packed and ready to go at all times with outfits that work for every occasion, the perfect black travel shoes and a makeup bag with a second set of her key items. She is going to love this classy pack of gentle laundry items that will help ensure her thoughtfully chosen threads stay perfectly clean during her trips.
Best Friend Who Loves Long Weekend Getaways - Country Road Logo Tote Bag ($59)
The icon Country Road canvas duffle bag continues to appeal to anyone who goes anywhere. Take it to yoga, bring it on a weekend getaway or fold it up in your suitcase as an extra bag to bring back goodies from abroad. It's so versatile, we suggest one as a gift and one for yourself. Lots of colors to choose from and available for both men and women.
Music-loving Boyfriend - Beats Wireless On-Ear Headphone (Black) ($280)
These headphones have it all - incredible sound, no annoying wires, Bluetooth connectivity, controls right on the headset and a 10 hour battery life - plus they look pretty cool. These aren't your business man's Bose noise-canceling headphones. These are the headphones you want to take on every trip and will use them for everything from watching movies from your computer to talking via Skype and, yes, listening to music on the plane.

Outdoorsy Sister-in-Law - Fjallraven Rucksack No. 21 Medium ($190)
Impress the recipient of this gift with your spelling skills and knowledge of European label, Fjallraven. This unique bag is the result of over 50 years of innovation from the Swedish company and it's not just functional but looks and feels great too.

Favorite Aunt Who Always Gets You Great Gifts from Wherever She Goes- Clean Eau De Parfum Rollerball ($27)
I have spilled more perfume in suitcases than I care to admit. And I've tried everything to travel with my favorite scent - wrapping perfume bottles in bubble wrap, double Ziploc bags, rolling it in a pair of socks - but more often than not my creative contraptions don't stop the inevitable break. I have finally found the answer - perfume via rollerball. Brilliant really.

Fashionable Jetsetter Sister - The Clare Vivier Clutch ($120)
The description of Clare Vivier says it all: "She marries classic French glamour with minimalist Los Angeles cool to produce a line of handbags and clutches that are as chic as they are utilitarian." Available in lots of colors and sizes, these are the perfect accompaniment to a large carry on bag so you've always got the right bag. (I adore the navy with orange accent. Hint. Hint.)

Your Know-It-All Nephew - Not For Parents Australia ($11)
For the kid who always asks "why", give him the answers this year. Lonely Planet has developed this brand new series of books written just for kids and now available for Australia, China, Great Britain and the United States.

College-aged Niece Who is Planning to Study Abroad Next Year - F1 Go Clean Beachwear ($30)
Cleaver and cute, this beach bag is functional with pockets for wet things and room for a towel, but also looks crisp and clean and folds small enough to bring along in any suitcase. A nice gift for anyone planning to be near a beach on their next vacation.

Grandfather with Wanderlust - World's Best Travel Experiences: 400 Extraordinary Places ($27)
We still enjoy flipping through Journeys of a Lifetime: 500 of the World's Greatest Trips and, of course drooling over, Food Journeys of a Lifetime: 500 Extraordinary Places to Eat Around the Globe so how could we not love the latest book from National Geographic, World's Best Travel Experiences, with the stunning photography that comes with all of their publications? Well, we do love it and would give this to anyone who dreams of those seemingly out-of-reach places, like the Galapagos or one of our favorite places, Antarctica.

Mom who Wants to Spice Up Her Look on Trips - Marc by Marc Jacobs Scarf  ($220)
One thin little piece of material can make all the difference when you pack. A scarf or wrap is the most versatile item you can have in your bag. Use it on the plane or train when it's colder than you thought. Use it in place of a jacket for a late night dinner. Or tie it on to add a splash of color to an all black outfit. It can even be used as a sarong on the beach. She'll love this gorgeous scarf at home and on the road.
